What to expect when you call

  • You will speak with a trained counsellor. They will not judge you.
  • You can share as much or as little as you want. You control the conversation.
  • Most services are confidential, though they may have duties to act if a child is in immediate danger.
  • It is okay to hang up and call back later. There is no wrong way to ask for help.

If you are helping someone else

Listen without judgment. Believe what they tell you. Do not pressure them to report or take any action they are not ready for.

You can call the helplines above on their behalf, or together. Many services also offer guidance for friends, family, and professionals supporting survivors.
